It’s best to come hungry.
Black-spotted cows. Red barns. Tractor-striped fields. Maple trees. Sure, they’re pretty and make great postcards. But behind those quintessential Vermont icons are hard-working farms and food producers that coax sweet maple syrup, plump berries, fresh eggs with bright orange yolks, succulent meats, and a rainbow of vegetables out of nature’s treasure chest. The Vermont chapter of the Northeast Organic Farming Association is also located right here in Richmond, working with the state’s farmers to keep their lands and operations economically viable, ecologically sound, and part of a sustainable food system that has become a national model.
All of this incredible food ends up filling shoppers’ baskets at area farmers’ markets, gracing the tables at local restaurants, or can be sourced from the farms directly.
