Don’t worry, the walks to our schools are not uphill both ways.
That’s mostly because as a rural community, most students take the bus. Each town has its own public elementary school for preschool through fourth grade. Bolton students attend Smilie Elementary, Huntington students go to Brewster Pierce Memorial School, and Richmond students attend Richmond Elementary School.
After elementary school, students from all three towns attend Camels Hump Middle School (grades 5-8) in Richmond and Mount Mansfield Union High School (grades 9-12) in the nearby town of Jericho. There are no private schools in the Western Slopes region.
For our youngest students, preschool programs are offered by a number of area childcare providers.
